About IELTS

The International English Language Testing System is a globally recognized test designed to assess the language proficiency of individuals who aim to study, work, or migrate to English-speaking countries. Comprising four modules—Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking—IELTS evaluates your ability to communicate effectively in English language.

IELTS was established in 1989 through a collaboration between three reputable institutions: the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.

IELTS MODULES

listening section typically takes around 30 minutes and evaluates your ability to understand spoken English in various contexts. It includes four recorded monologues and conversations, with a range of accents and topics. During the test, you’ll answer questions based on what you hear. The Listening test aims to assess your comprehension skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow conversations and discussions in English.

Reading section in the IELTS exam is designed to assess your ability to understand and interpret written English. It consists of three long passages with a variety of question types, such as multiple-choice, matching headings, True/False/Not Given, and completing sentences. You’ll have 60 minutes to read the passages and answer 40 questions. The passages are taken from books, magazines, journals, and newspapers, covering a range of topics and styles. This section evaluates your comprehension, vocabulary, and ability to locate and understand specific information within the texts.

Speaking section in the IELTS exam is a face-to-face interview designed to assess your spoken English skills. It’s divided into three parts:
1. Introduction & Interview:
The examiner starts with introductions and some general questions about familiar topics like work, studies, hobbies, etc.
2.Short Presentation:
You’ll be given a cue card with a topic to talk about for 1-2 minutes. You’ll have some time to prepare notes before speaking.
3.Discussion:
This involves a more in-depth conversation based on the topic from the previous section, covering related issues, opinions, and general discussion.

IELTS SCORING

IELTS uses a band score from 0 to 9 to assess English proficiency across its sections. A score of 9 indicates an expert level, while 0 means no attempt. These scores measure various language aspects like comprehension, fluency, and accuracy, crucial for education, work, and immigration.
